It's a Cole World: Bec Cole talks to WNBA and Australian Opals superstar Ezi Magbegor

Ezi Magbegor is one of Australia’s brightest basketball stars — and she’s having a huge year on and off the court.

The 24-year-old forward plays in the WNBA for the Seattle Storm, where she’s in her fifth season. Known for her shot-blocking and strong defense, Magbegor is ranked third in the league for blocks per game and has moved to second in franchise history for total blocks.

Before returning to the WNBA this season, Magbegor starred in Europe, helping her Czech team Prague win both the national championship and the EuroLeague title. Her impressive form earned her spots on the All-EuroLeague First Team and the EuroLeague Final Four All-Star Team.

A two-time Olympian and a regular for the Australian Opals, Magbegor already has a silver and bronze medal from World Cups and a Commonwealth Games gold to her name. She continues to be a key figure in Australia’s international basketball future.

Magbegor is also embracing her leadership role in Seattle, mentoring 19-year-old Dominique Malonga, the team’s new No. 2 overall draft pick.

Off the court, Magbegor is enjoying the growing attention on the WNBA.

With the Storm sitting third in the Western Conference, Magbegor is focused on helping her team push for a deep playoff run.

No matter where she plays — Seattle, Prague, or in Green and Gold — Magbegor is doing Australia proud.
