Sydney freshman forward Emmett Adair is living up to the promise he made Loyola Maryland fans at the start of the 2025-26 NCAA Men's Division 1 season in the United States.
"Playing tough, playing hard, and helping the team do whatever they need to do to get the win," he said last October.
Adair, 20, is averaging 20.6 points per game (44.3%), 7.4 rebounds while shooting a very healthy 14–from-33 (42.4%) from three, including 26 points on 10-from-16 and nine boards in 30 minutes in a 68-64 win against Lafayette for the 10-16 Greyhounds.
He revealed that it was American head coach Josh Loeffler who influenced his decision to go to Loyola after playing for the Boomers during the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers last year.
"Definitely Coach Loeffler and the coaching staff," Adair said.
"And then I just thought it’s a great stepping stone for my basketball journey."
Loeffler's trust in Adair has grown throughout the season, along with his minutes. He's played right around 27 minutes in three of his past four games.
At 2.06m, Adair can shoot the ball and be a stretch big. This puts him on a solid trajectory to develop into an elite floor spacer as he matures.
While he continues to evolve on the court, Adair is also committed to putting in the work off it.
"I love to listen to music. I like art – I like to paint, draw, that sort of stuff," he revealed.

Usage & Role
- Functions as a trail shooter in early offense.
- Operates from the slot and lift positions in half-court spacing.
- Strong free-throw profile (35–44) supports rim pressure.
- Turnover rate remains manageable (34 in 21 games).
When Loyola extends possessions into the half-court, Adair is frequently the primary scoring option, particularly in late-clock pick-and-pop or isolation face-up situations.

- 2 games – 9.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg
Youth National Teams

Adair progressed from U17 and U18 lead usage into senior qualifying exposure before beginning his NCAA career, reinforcing his trajectory through Basketball Australia’s pathway system.
At 2.06 m with a 31% three-point profile on volume and near-80% free-throw accuracy, Adair projects as a stretch-forward archetype with expanding shot creation responsibility. His freshman efficiency metrics (20.0 PER, 53.7 eFG%) indicate productive offensive scaling within a rebuilding Loyola program.
With continued defensive development and rebounding consistency, his role should remain central through Patriot League play and into future international windows with Australia.
