Miela Sowah waived despite perfect three-point WNBA preseason debut for Golden State.

Townsville Fire WNBL26 Grand Final hero Miela Sowah has been waived by the Golden State Valkyries despite dropping 14 points in just 14 minutes in the pre-season WNBA clash against the Seattle Storm on April 26.

Sowah, 25, was one of six players cut by the second-year franchise.

The Valkyries also waived centre Mariella Fasoula, guards Ashlon Jackson, Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda, and forwards Cate Reese and Marta Suárez.

Sowah’s point-a-minute performance came on a perfect 4-from-4 threes in her first WNBA game in the pre-season Golden State Valkyries 78-76 win against Jade Melbourne and Ezi Magbegor's Seattle Storm.

Sowah is now the fourth Australian to be waived after Sandy Brondello wielded the axe on the Toronto Tempo training camp contracts of Maddi Rocci and Kirsty Wallace and the Los Angeles Sparks waived 2026 WNBA draftee Amelia Hassett.
