Cairns 89 def Townsville 74 — Watch the Replay

Mia Loyd delivered a stellar performance with 27 points and 10 rebounds as Cairns defeated Townsville 89-74 at Trinity Ford Stadium. Loyd was outstanding from the field, shooting 90.9 percent (10-from-11) while adding six assists. Cayla George contributed a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Summah Evans added 16 points, including four triples on 50 percent shooting from deep.

The Marlins showcased exceptional efficiency throughout the contest, shooting 55.7 percent from the field and 37 percent from three-point range. Cairns built a 21-point lead during their dominant display, which included a 20-0 scoring run. Despite Samantha Bowman's valiant effort for Townsville with 24 points, eight rebounds and four steals, and Mia Murray's 18 points (including four threes), the Flames couldn't overcome Cairns' balanced attack and superior shooting performance.

Unique Thompson delivered a dominant performance with 30 points and 13 rebounds as Mackay edged out Sunshine Coast 92-89 in a thrilling contest at Mackay Basketball Stadium.

Thompson was outstanding, shooting 13-from-23 (56.5 percent) from the field while securing her double-double. Monique Bobongie added 19 points and Emme Shearer contributed an efficient 18 points on 8-from-15 shooting as Mackay shot 47.9 percent from the field compared to Sunshine Coast's 39.2 percent.

The game featured an incredible 25 lead changes, with neither team able to pull away for long stretches. Sunshine Coast's Erin Bollmann was exceptional in defeat, filling the stat sheet with 25 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, four steals and two blocks.

Shannon Ryan added 18 points and seven rebounds for the visitors, who led by as many as 15 points during the contest. Both teams struggled from three-point range, with Mackay shooting 25 percent and Sunshine Coast connecting at just 23.8 percent. Mackay's control of the glass proved crucial, outrebounding Sunshine Coast 48-38, including 17 offensive rebounds that led to 15 second-chance points.
