What Happened
Australia established their dominance early and never relinquished control, showcasing a balanced offensive attack that overwhelmed Guam throughout the contest. The Aussies' superior size and athleticism proved decisive as they controlled both ends of the floor with authority.
Isaac Riddle led the charge with an exceptional shooting display, converting eight of his 11 field goal attempts for an outstanding 72.7% efficiency rate. The forward was particularly effective in the paint, going a perfect seven-from-10 on two-point attempts while adding one triple. His 19-point haul in just over 20 minutes demonstrated the kind of efficient scoring that defined Australia's performance.
Koby Moir provided excellent support with a near-perfect shooting night, connecting on six of seven field goal attempts for an impressive 85.7% efficiency. His 15 points came alongside solid rebounding and playmaking, epitomising the all-round effort that made Australia so difficult to contain.
Jai Fa'ale added 13 points despite struggling from beyond the arc, while Bailey Hanson chipped in with 10 points and three assists.
Australia's dominance was most evident in their interior play, where they shot an outstanding 69.5% on two-point attempts. The team's 45-from-80 field goal shooting (56.3%) reflected their ability to find quality looks throughout the game.
While their three-point shooting was poor at just 19.1%, it mattered little given their effectiveness inside the arc.
Defensively, Australia controlled the boards with 62 rebounds, including 23 on the offensive glass that provided numerous second-chance opportunities. Their 14 steals and eight blocks disrupted Guam's offensive flow, creating easy transition opportunities that further extended their advantage.
The 43-point margin reflected not just offensive efficiency but also defensive intensity that stifled Guam's scoring chances.
Australia play trans-Tasman rivals, New Zealand, at 5.30pm Thursday.
