Northside Wizards secured their first win of the season behind a dominant 41-point performance from Quintin Dove, while Cairns Marlins reinforced their status as the NBL1 North benchmark with another commanding victory in Round 4 action.

Quintin Dove exploded for 41 points as Northside Wizards secured their first win of the season in an overtime shootout against Southern Districts Spartans.
Dove delivered one of the performances of the season, shooting 13-from-25 from the field and 6-from-15 from three-point range while repeatedly creating offence late in possessions.
Northside controlled the game for long stretches behind its offensive pace and perimeter volume, but Southern Districts responded repeatedly through Tamuri Wigness.
Wigness finished with 30 points and 10 assists in a dominant offensive performance of his own, consistently attacking downhill and creating scoring opportunities for teammates.
Ben Hastings added 21 points and Griffin Biwer produced a double-double with nine points and 14 rebounds as the Spartans erased an 11-point deficit late to force overtime. But Northside responded in the extra period.
Tyler Williams finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, while Durrell McDonald controlled tempo with 15 points, eight assists and five steals.
The Wizards won the rebounding battle 51-44, generated 19 offensive rebounds and finished with 14 steals in their most complete performance of the season.
Southern Districts shot 45.3% from the field but couldn’t consistently contain Northside’s second-chance opportunities or transition scoring.

Ky Stattmann scored 26 points as Cairns Marlins remained unbeaten with a dominant win against Townsville Heat.
Cairns broke the game open in the second quarter, outscoring Townsville 34-12 to establish complete control before halftime.
The Marlins generated efficient offence across the lineup, shooting 49.4% from the field and producing 14 made threes.
Ky Stattmann led the scoring with 26 points on 10-from-16 shooting, while Kody Stattmann added 21 points and shot 61.5% from the field.
Cairns’ offensive balance was again a major separator.
Eight players scored, Kobe McDowell-White controlled the game with nine assists, and the Marlins consistently generated quality perimeter looks through ball movement.
Townsville had strong individual performances from Ethan Betts (15 points), Steven Richardson Junior (14 points, eight rebounds) and Joshua Corcoran (11 points on 5-from-6 shooting), but struggled to sustain offensive rhythm after halftime.
Cairns also controlled defensively, holding Townsville to 23.8% from three-point range and forcing 18 turnovers.
The Marlins now sit 5-0 with the league’s best percentage and strongest defensive profile through four rounds.
