Boomers, Opals, WNBA, Summer League and junior world cups headline packed basketball calendar.

Australian basketball is in the middle of a two-month stretch unlike anything else on the 2026 calendar, with elite domestic leagues, national teams, junior world championships and NBA showcase events colliding across June and July.

The Australian women's 3x3 team won silver at the FIBA World Cup while the men were bundled out in the Pool games.

The NBL1 Men and Women seasons continue to build toward finals, while Australians across the Women's National Basketball Association remain in the middle of the 2026 season.

The Australia men's national basketball team return during the FIBA Asia Cup qualifying window, while the Australia women's national basketball team host China in a blockbuster Melbourne series ahead of the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup build-up.

Australia’s next generation will also take centre stage at the FIBA U17 Men's Basketball World Cup 2026, FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 and the Australian Under-16 National Championships in Bendigo, while NBA hopefuls descend on Las Vegas for NBA 2K26 Summer League.

June 1 – June 7: FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2026 – Warsaw, Poland

Australia’s national 3x3 teams, the Gangurrus, competed at the FIBA 3x3 World Cup after pre-tournament training camps in Serbia.

June 8 to 11: IWBF Women’s Repechage Tournament – Madrid, Spain

Australia’s Gliders will compete at the 2026 IWBF Women’s Repechage Tournament in Madrid, Spain, with the final four qualification spots for the 2026 IWBF Women’s World Championships on the line.

Led by head coach Jeremy Synot, the Gliders have named a full-strength squad for the tournament as they chase qualification for the World Championships in Ottawa, Canada, later this year.

June 22 – June 28: NBA Rising Stars Invitational in Singapore

Held at OCBC Arena featuring top Under-18 boys’ and girls’ teams from the Asia-Pacific region.
