Big Australian performances on Nov 24 in NCAAM, led by QLD Roman Siulepa’s 20-point breakout

A huge day for Australians in NCAA men’s basketball, with Roman Siulepa’s 20 points, Joel Foxwell’s 40-minute line, strong Central Arkansas contributions and Jacob Furphy’s UConn debut leading the November 24, 2025 (AEDT) schedule.

🇦🇺 Central Arkansas 92 Eastern Washington 65

Freshmen Harry Beauchamp and Truman Byrne, both from Melbourne, played meaningful rotation minutes in the Bears’ win. Beauchamp provided perimeter energy and composure, scoring five points on 2-of-5 shooting with a three, along with a rebound, an assist and a steal in 18 minutes. Byrne offered frontcourt size and defensive presence, finishing with two points, five rebounds, two blocks and an assist in his own 18-minute stretch, reinforcing Central Arkansas’ interior effort.

Freshman guard Joel Foxwell and sophomore forward James O’Donnell continued to anchor Portland’s Australian contingent in the Pilots’ 76–66 loss to St. Thomas–Minnesota. Foxwell logged a full 40-minute workload and delivered an all-round performance, finishing with 11 points, seven rebounds, eight assists and a steal while shooting 5-of-12 from the field. O’Donnell played 16 minutes off the bench, contributing two rebounds and steady interior minutes despite not recording a field-goal attempt.

Freshman forward Roman Siulepa, from Brisbane, delivered a breakout game in Pittsburgh’s 83–75 loss to Quinnipiac at the Skyscanner Legends Classic. Siulepa was outstanding across 37 high-usage minutes, scoring 20 points on an efficient 9-of-12 shooting while adding eight rebounds, four steals, a block and an assist. Despite going 2-of-8 at the free-throw line, the Brisbane-born wing was consistently impactful with his physical drives, rebounding presence and disruptive defensive play.

🇦🇺 UConn 72 Bryant 49

Finally, Jacob Furphy played his first NCAA Men's Division 1 basketball game for UConn. Furphy has recovered from injury. Freshman Furphy, from Smithton, Tasmania, made his UConn debut with a short but energetic six-minute stint. The 1.98-metre guard scored two points on his lone field-goal attempt and added a steal, a block and a foul. Though limited in minutes, Furphy showed activity on the defensive end and confidence offensively in his first appearance for the Huskies.

🇦🇺 Detroit Mercy 75 DePaul 95

Freshman Xavier Istomin-Monroe, from Sydney, provided strong interior scoring and physical presence in Detroit Mercy’s road loss to DePaul. The 2.16-metre centre logged 15 minutes and scored eight points on an efficient 4-of-6 shooting while adding three rebounds. Though he didn’t record a block or steal, Istomin-Monroe competed on the glass, absorbed contact inside, and showed touch around the rim. He finished with four fouls and one turnover in an assertive rotation performance.
