Los Angeles Lakers powered past the Washington Wizards from the opening tip in Washington, with Dončić delivering a dominant all-around performance and former NBL Next Star Alex Sarr providing one of the few bright spots for the home side.
Dončić controlled the game from the opening quarter, finishing with 37 points, 13 assists, and 11 rebounds in just 31 minutes as the Lakers scored 41 points in the first quarter and never looked back. He shot 13-of-21 from the field and 6-of-13 from three, repeatedly punishing Washington’s coverage while orchestrating a Lakers offense that shot 61 percent overall and piled up 38 assists. The result was effectively settled by halftime, with Los Angeles holding a 77–48 lead.
Sarr was Washington’s most effective starter, posting 16 points, six rebounds, and five assists on 8-of-14 shooting in 28 minutes. The 20-year-old showed his versatility as a finisher and facilitator in the half court, but struggled to stretch the floor (0-of-3 from three) and was caught in the defensive tide as the Wizards were overwhelmed by Los Angeles’ pace and ball movement. Despite Sarr’s efficiency, Washington conceded 142 points and fell to 12–34 on the season as the Lakers’ stars dictated every phase of the game.
