Highlights

How all 12 Australians are going in the 2026-27 NBA preseason, updated after every game they play.

  • Twelve Australians at 11 clubs, with 41 preseason games between them
  • Eleven have played so far, with only the injured Furphy yet to appear
  • Tuesday, October 13: Daniels, Landale, Zikarsky and Green all tip off by 12pm AEDT

Melbourne-born superstar Kyrie Irving scored a team-high 17 points in 22 minutes in his first game since March 4, 2025, as the Dallas Mavericks beat the Houston Rockets 132-115 at the Venetian Arena in Macao on Sunday, October 11 (AEDT).

In the build-up to the clash, Irving said: "I'm still trying to sneak on to the Australian team.

"I did have Australian pencilled in in early September but I had to come back to Dallas to acclimated but trust me, at the end of this season, Melbourne is on top of the list."

Irving has recovered from an ACL injured that ended his 2024-25 season after declaring he was considering a switch from Team USA to Australia.

‍Josh Giddey handed out a team-high eight assists in the Chicago Bulls' 133-128 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Monday, October 12 (AEDT).

Irving, who did not play in the first of the two Macao games on Friday, started and went 6-from-13 from the field, 2-from-6 from three and 3-from-3 at the line, with two rebounds and three assists. His last appearance before Sunday came against the Sacramento Kings on March 4, 2025 (AEDT), and ESPN lists no game for him in the 2025-26 season.

Giddey started and played 24 minutes for seven points, a rebound, a steal and a block, going 1-from-3 from the field and 4-from-4 at the line. Tyrese Proctor hit a three in eight minutes off the bench as the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Orlando Magic 119-105 in Cleveland, finishing with three points, a rebound and a steal.

Duop Reath scored four points and blocked a shot in four minutes off the bench as the Phoenix Suns beat the San Antonio Spurs 102-98 in Phoenix on Sunday, October 11 (AEDT), going 1-from-3 from the field and 2-from-2 at the line.

Newest first, one row per Australian per game, with dates in Sydney time. A shaded row is a game he did not play, with the reason the official listing gives where there is one.
How this is built
Every completed preseason game involving a club with an Australian on its roster, taken from ESPN’s box scores once the game is final. Each line is checked before it goes in: a player’s points must add up from his shooting, and each team’s points must match the final score. “v” is a home game and “at” an away game. Where a game was played away from the home club’s usual arena, the town is shown under the opponent, and the club the league lists as home is treated as the home side. Ben Simmons was not listed for Sacramento’s game on Fri 9 Oct and no reason was given, so the row says only that he did not play. Ben Simmons was not listed for Sacramento’s game on Tue 6 Oct and no reason was given, so the row says only that he did not play. Johnny Furphy is listed out injured and has not been on a box score. Started or Bench, under each name, is from the box score.

The 2026-27 NBA preseason games featuring an Australian still to be played, from the schedules of 11 clubs: Atlanta Hawks (Dyson Daniels, Jock Landale, released 25 June), Los Angeles Lakers (Matisse Thybulle, released 21 July), Dallas Mavericks (Kyrie Irving, released 22 July), Chicago Bulls (Josh Giddey, released 28 July), Minnesota Timberwolves (Rocco Zikarsky, released 12 August), Indiana Pacers (Johnny Furphy, released 13 August), Cleveland Cavaliers (Tyrese Proctor, released 19 August), Utah Jazz (Josh Green, club schedule, read 16 September), Sacramento Kings (Ben Simmons, club schedule, read 16 September), Golden State Warriors (Alex Toohey, club schedule, read 16 September), Phoenix Suns (Duop Reath, club schedule, read 30 September). All times converted to Sydney (AEDT, UTC+11) from each venue’s own clock. Five players carry a red mark beside their name. Their appearance this preseason is not assured, because each is on a contract the preseason itself decides. Team-mates listed alongside them are unaffected. The TV column shows ESPN or ESPN2 where the Foxtel guide lists the game (on Foxtel, Kayo and Disney+). Every other game is on NBA League Pass in the NBA App. Finished games drop off this table. Their results and every Australian’s line are in the game log.
Why Alex Toohey, Ben Simmons, Duop Reath, Johnny Furphy and Rocco Zikarsky are marked
Alex Toohey is in camp on an Exhibit 10, which is a training-camp contract rather than a roster spot. Ben Simmons is on a one-year deal that stays non-guaranteed unless he makes Sacramento's opening-night roster, so preseason is his audition. Duop Reath is on a one-year deal, but Phoenix already had 15 players on standard contracts when he signed, so someone has to be waived or traded for him to make the opening-night roster. Johnny Furphy is on the roster but still recovering from the ACL he tore in February. The Pacers said on 25 September they expect him back around the middle of the season, so he is not expected to play in the preseason. Rocco Zikarsky is on a two-way contract, so not guaranteed to be with Minnesota on any given date.
