Lara Somfai didn't take long to make her mark on the NCAA college basketball powerhouse that is Stanford University.
But when your freshman season includes a 15-point, 23-rebound performance - that's taking it to a whole other level.
The rising star and South Australian product put together arguably one of the greatest performances by an Aussie freshman in NCAA history in a 86-65 win over Pitt earlier this month and joined Lukas Petridis on the latest edition of basketball.com.au's newest show, Bounce Pass Breakdown, to talk all about it.
Starring in her first season in the Atlantic Coast Conference with the same school WNBA Defensive Player of the Year and Australian Opals star Alanna Smith played with, Somfai broke down how the performance came together, including everything from priding herself on running the floor as a forward, tearing apart Pitt's zone defence and much more.
The four-time ACC Freshman of the Week, who also recently appeared on Cut to the Jase alongside Max Mackinnon from LSU, also spoke about joining the same school as Smith and some of her currently fellow students at Stanford.
"(Stanford) brought up Alanna because she's Australian as well and she had been like far away from home, so, obviously I've been living away from home for like I think three years now," Somfai said.
"So they were like, we've had international players, that was a really good marketing point for them being like we've had plenty of internationals, we know you guys get homesick, you take your time at home, we you value that."
As well as being the school where several big-name CEO's have attended, Somfai also has a very famous classmate.
"One of my classmates is Tiger Woods's daughter, so she one of my classmates, which is super cool," she said.
"I was like 'oh my goodness, I didn't even know' and then someone told me and I was like 'oh, wow', so that that's probably something cool."
Somfai is currently averaging 10.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game for Stanford.
