Townsville Tip-Off "rumblings" turned into an earth-shuddering signing for the WNBL's Perth Lynx yesterday.
The Lynx confirmed one of the worst keep secrets in the league by announcing they have secured Chinese WNBA veteran Han Xu to complete its WNBL26 roster.
“I’m excited to join the Perth Lynx and play in Australia,” Han said.
“I want to help the team win, and can’t wait to meet the players, coaches and fans.”
basketball.com.au's Hayley Wildes, at the Tip-Off in Townsville three weeks ago, reported: "In a positive for Lynx fans, I did hear rumblings throughout the weekend they possibly do have an import big on their way at some point in the season. And let me just say, she has been a massive presence across the Asian region in recent times."
Han, at 2.11m (6′11″), was drafted by the New York Liberty in the WNBA in 2019. She is one of the tallest and most dominant centres in in the world.
“Han is a world-class talent and a true marquee signing for us,” Lynx head coach Ryan Petrik said.
“Her size, skill and experience at the highest levels of the game will make a huge impact.
"We’re thrilled to welcome her to Perth and can’t wait to see her in red.”
The Lynx’s play their first game of WNBL26 on Sunday, October 19, 2025 against the Adelaide Lightning at the SA State Basketball Centre.
