Former NBL Next Star Alex Toohey has a second chance to impress at the NBA level after signing an Exhibit 10 deal with the Golden State Warriors.

Toohey, who was selected with pick 52 in the 2025 NBA Draft, was signed to a two-way deal by the Warriors last year but was waived in December after needing season-ending knee surgery.

The former Sydney Kings forward's new deal means he will compete for a longer-term contract at Warriors training camp but it's still unclear if he's fully recovered from the knee injury after he missed Summer League in Las Vegas in July.

Toohey, 22, played two G League games for the Santa Cruz Warriors before his knee injury - averaging seven points, three rebounds and one assist in almost 20 minutes per game.

The Canberra product impressed in the 2025 Summer League and even went viral online after singing Oasis' hit 'Wonderwall' in front of a packed Chase Center during the NBA preseason.

Toohey moulded his skills at the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence in Canberra from 2021-23 before spending two seasons as a Next Star with the Kings, winning the NBL's Next Generation Award in 2025.

ESPN reporter Anthony Slater reported the Toohey signing at the Warriors today.

"The Warriors are bringing back Alex Toohey, their 2025 second rounder, on an exhibit 10 training camp deal, per source. Toohey’s first season in the GSW program never got off the ground because of a knee injury. Was briefly on a two-way contract," he wrote.

NBA teams start their training camps on September 22 before pre-season games tip-off on September 29.
