Exum out indefinitely with knee soreness

Dante Exum, dealing with knee soreness, has missed both pre-season games and will be sidelined.

Australian Boomers and Dallas Mavericks guard Dante Exum will be sidelined indefinitely with right knee soreness, reports Mike Curtis of the Dallas Morning News.
Head coach Jason Kidd told reporters there is no timetable for Exum’s return.
The 29-year-old missed the Mavericks’ opening two games of the 2025–26 pre-season and had recently re-signed with the team on a one-year extension.
On a revamped Dallas roster, Exum was expected to compete with D’Angelo Russell for minutes at point guard alongside No. 1 draft pick Cooper Flagg.
Exum battled wrist and hand injuries last season, limiting him to just 20 National Basketball Association appearances for the Mavericks.
Since joining the Mavericks, Exum has carved out a valuable role as a versatile backcourt option. Over his two seasons in Dallas, he has appeared in 75 regular season games, averaging 8.0 points, 2.8 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 19.5 minutes per contest.
His combination of size (198 cm), defensive versatility, and improved shooting has made him a valuable rotation piece for Dallas coach Jason Kidd, who has utilised Exum in various lineup configurations.
