Dyson Daniels continues to add to his young NBA career as Atlanta extend winning streak

Aussie guard Dyson Daniels has etched his name in history alongside NBA icons, including LeBron James after another win for the in-form Atlanta Hawks.

Daniels was on double-double watch in Atlanta's 125-116 win over the Philadelphia 76ers at the State Farm Arena, recording 15 points as well as nine rebounds, four assists and two steals as Quin Snyder's team won their sixth straight game to establish themselves as the hottest team in the league.

With his four assists, Daniels became the fourth youngest player in NBA history to score at least 2000 points while also having more than 1000 rebounds, 1000 assists and 450 steals - only trailing the likes of four-time champion and four-time MVP in LeBron James as well as Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson and the recently retired Chris Paul.

The achievement is even more impressive given the 22-year-old, now commonly known as 'The Great Barrier Thief', struggled to earn consistent opportunities while with the New Orleans Pelicans for the first two seasons of his career.

His trade from the Pelicans to the Hawks in July, 2024 proved a masterstroke from Atlanta with the Bendigo product establishing himself as one of the best young talents in the league and also as one of the premier perimeter defenders, which was recognised with an NBA First Team All-Defence last season and after being named a finalist for the Defensive Player of the Year award - where many experts thought he was robbed of the accolade.

While his scoring and shooting percentage numbers are down this season, from 14.1 points to 11.4 and three-point numbers down drastically from 34% to 12.6%, his overall impact is being felt more than ever, especially since the trade deadline where he has become one of the primary ball handlers and initiating offence for the Hawks.

Daniels' assists are up from 4.6 per game last season to 6.1 in 2025-26 and rebounding numbers also up from 5.9 per game last season to 6.6 currently.

It holds the Hawks in good stead as they rise up the Eastern Conference standings following their win streak, which is currently the longest in the association.

NBA BOX SCORE: Minnesota Timberwolves vs Orlando Magic

Poor second and fourth quarters have cost the Minnesota Timberwolves after going down to the Orlando Magic 119-92 at home.

Orlando outscored the Timberwolves 33-20 in the second and 29-14 in the fourth to record the 27-point victory. But it wasn't all doom and gloom for Minnesota with Aussie rookie Rocco Zikarsky playing five minutes in the fourth quarter for two points and one block.

Aussie veteran Joe Ingles was a DNP Coach's Decision but was back with the team after missing the two previous games due to personal reasons.

NBA BOX SCORE: Atlanta Hawks vs Philadelphia 76ers

Dyson Daniels and the Atlanta Hawks have overtaken the Charlotte Hornets as the hottest team in the NBA after winning their sixth straight game following a 125-116 win over the Philadelphia 76ers at the State Farm Arena.

Daniels fell just short of a double-double with 15 points, going 7-from-10 from the field and 1-from-2 from beyond the arc, as well as nine rebounds, four assists and two steals in the nine-point win.

Daniels also became the fourth-youngest player in NBA history to reach 2000 points, more than 1000 rebounds, more than 1000 assists and more than 450 steals behind legends such as LeBron James, Magic Johnson and Chris Paul.

The Hawks, who have been in red-hot form since the All-Star break, have won the most games on the trot in the league after the Hornets lost yesterday.

They are now just two wins away from sixth spot in the Eastern Conference.
