Aussie big man Alex Condon has joined illustrious company after reaching the 1000-point mark for his NCAA division one men's college basketball season after a convincing win over South Carolina.
Condon reached the milestone in his junior season, scoring 20 points in a 76-62 victory, adding to his already long list of achievements in college basketball, which includes a national championship with the Gators last season.
The Western Australian product has gone to another level this season with added responsibility, averaging 13.3 points, eight rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting more than 50 per cent on the year - a dramatic increase from her 10.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per appearance during Florida's national championship campaign.
Florida took a moment in the second half to recognise Condon reaching the milestone.
While the Gators have not been as dominant as the 2024-25 season, Condon has helped lead his team to a 20-6 record and a No.12 rank in the country heading into the business end of the year.
It's been an incredibly successful season for the 6'9" forward/centre who initially was headed to the NBA Draft at the end of last season before deciding to return to Florida.
His performances have led to the former Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence scholarship holder being ranked 38th on the latest ESPN 2026 NBA Draft big board rankings with the top 100 prospects, which would have him being selected early in the second round - if he chose to go professional and leave the Gators.
“I think during the timeout, when it happened, they put it up on the screen, I saw it,” Condon told the Gainesville Sun post-game.
“It was cool to get that recognition a little bit.
"I think it’s really important we just stay focused on the main goal this year, running it back, and yeah, that's all I can think about right now."
Condon's coach, Todd Golden, recently also praised the Aussie and his performances this season.
“He’s a damn good player,” he said.
“There’s very few guys in America that you take over him.
“When something doesn’t go perfect for him, he’s not pouting. He’s not blaming others. He’s competing his ass off on the defensive end and doing everything he can to prevent the other team from scoring.”
