What Happened
Atlanta dominated from start to finish, building a 45-34 halftime lead before blowing the game open with a 23-10 third quarter. The Dream maintained their intensity throughout the final period, outscoring Washington 21-12 to secure the 33-point victory.
Gray's stellar shooting night proved pivotal for Atlanta, as she connected on an efficient 10-from-14 from the field, including an outstanding 6-from-9 from beyond the arc. Her six free throws helped extend the Dream's advantage as Washington struggled to contain her offensive outburst.
Te-Hina Paopao added valuable bench production with 16 points on 6-from-8 shooting, including 4-from-6 from three-point range. She also distributed five assists in just 17 minutes. Naz Hillmon contributed a near double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while adding five assists to round out a solid performance.
The Dream's superior shooting efficiency made the difference, as they shot 44.3 percent from the field (31-from-70) compared to Washington's dismal 29.5 percent (18-from-61). Atlanta was particularly effective from three-point range, connecting on 18-from-42 attempts (42.9 percent) while Washington managed just 3-from-17 (17.6 percent).
Atlanta's defense stifled the Mystics throughout the contest, forcing 13 turnovers and recording eight steals. Rhyne Howard added 14 points on 5-from-14 shooting, including 4-from-11 from beyond the arc, as the Dream improved to 8-3 on the season. The loss dropped Washington to 4-7, further complicating their playoff aspirations.
