While Australia's established NBA contingent continues to grow, the next wave of talent is getting its opportunity in Las Vegas.
Eleven Australians have already secured NBA Summer League contracts, headlined by NBL25 champion William Hickey, who has joined the Los Angeles Lakers. They join a strong Australian contingent looking to impress NBA front offices when Summer League tips off next week.
The Summer League group complements a growing Australian presence already under NBA contract. Six Australians are on NBA deals for the 2026-27 season – five on standard contracts and Rocco Zikarsky on a two-way deal – while Boomers veterans Jock Landale (will sign with the Hawks) and Matisse Thybulle remain free agents. Australian-born Kyrie Irving is also under contract with the Dallas Mavericks.
