Australian Boomers and Chicago Bulls point guard Josh Giddey starts the 2026-27 season with only one Australian left in front of him on the NBA's all-time triple-double list, and 82 games to close the gap.
Giddey passed NBA icon Michael Jordan in March, finished the season with 31 career triple doubles (20 at the Bulls overall) – just two behind Australian Boomers aspirant Ben Simmons.
Giddey, 23, with a four-year, 100 million dollar contract before last season and needs just three to pass Simmons, who is pushing hard for a return to the NBA after sitting out 2025-26. Whether he has an opportunity to build on his 33 triple doubles is a "watch this space".
That is the number to watch this season. The rest is the schedule, and it is kind to Australian fans.

His 29th career triple-double came against the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, March 14, 2026, a 20-point, 11-rebound, 10-assist night in a 119-108 loss, and it moved him past Jordan's 28 and level with Grant Hill in equal 19th on the all-time list.
He had passed Scottie Pippen for second-most in Bulls history the week before.
Sixty-nine of Chicago's 80 released games (excluding two Commissioner's Cup games) tip between 10am and 2pm on Australia's east coast, the friendliest schedule of any club carrying an Australian.
Only eight tip before 10am. Twenty-one games fall on a Saturday or Sunday here, and 19 of those 21 land inside the 10am to 2pm window.
So for Giddey specifically, League Pass is not optional.
The season opens against the Toronto Raptors at 10:30am AEDT on Thursday, October 22, and closes against the New Orleans Pelicans at 8am AEST on Monday, April 12.
Chicago play 40 at home and 40 away, and 15 of the 80 sit on the second night of a back-to-back once the dates are read in Australian time.
Australian daylight saving ends on Sunday, April 4, 2027, with five Bulls games still to play. Everything up to Saturday, April 3 is AEDT. The last five, from Monday, April 5, are AEST. Every row in the table carries its own label.
The earliest start of the year is the Houston game at 6am AEST on Monday, April 5, one day after the clocks go back.
