Australians Joel Foxwell and James O’Donnell guided Portland Pilots to a 67–63 NCAAM Division I basketball win over UC Davis today.
Player of the Game Foxwell, the younger brother of Australian Boomer Owen, hit five threes en route to 23 points, while O’Donnell added 11 and four rebounds in a strong all-Aussie showing.
"Just confidence coming in," Foxwell, 1.85 freshman guard said of his 5-from-10 three point shooting.
"I was speaking to my dad throughout the week and he gave me a couple of tips, so throughout the week I was just getting some more shots up, trying to critique it a little bit.
"That definitely helped today — playing with confidence and pace really helped as well. When you get going, you know how it is."
Joshua Hughes continued his impressive start for Evansville, scoring 13 points in just 18 minutes, and Lachlan Brewer logged 27 minutes as a starter for Idaho State.
