Finally! Bibby lands standard deal with Lynx

Australian WNBA battler Chloe Bibby has joined the Minnesota Lynx on a standard contract after the Chicago Sky ran out of cap room to keep her.
The Sky reportedly valued Australian Opals wing Bibby, 28, and would have preferred to keep her on the roster but under salary cap constraints they would have needed to trade a player to make room.
She was a developmental player in Chicago. Minnesota have signed her on a standard deal.
Nothing about it has come easily. Bibby has been waived at training camp, re-signed by the club that cut her, taken in an expansion draft and lost a season to her knee, all since the start of last year.
She has played four games for the Sky in 2026, averaging 5.5 points and 1.5 assists in 12.8 minutes while shooting 40 per cent from the field and 33.3 per cent from three.
Against the Connecticut Sun she scored eight points in 18 minutes, went 2-from-4 from downtown, added a rebound, two assists, a steal and a block, and finished plus-4 in the win.
The 2025 season is the one that explains her.
Golden State signed her out of the EuroCup, where she had averaged 22 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.2 steals, and then waived her at training camp.
The Valkyries re-signed her, and she made her WNBA debut at the end of July.

"In her WNBA regular season debut, Bibby was electric as the Valkyries defeated the Indiana Fever, 88-77. Bibby played 24 minutes and finished with 12 points (4/9 FG) and 3 rebounds, showcasing her outside shooting with a pair of triples.
"A few days later, she again proved valuable for Golden State as they dominated Connecticut, 87-63, finishing with 11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in 20 minutes of action," Wildes wrote.
Nine games with the Indiana Fever followed before her knee went and the season was over.
It still added up to 14 games, 4.8 points and 1.8 rebounds a game, 40.5 per cent from three and 88.9 per cent from the charity stripe.
She took more threes than twos all year, which is the tell on how she is being used.
None of this is new to her. Bibby made her WNBL debut for the Dandenong Rangers in the 2013-14 season, aged 15, and spent four years there before Poland and Spain, averaging 20.9 points in the Polish league.
Portland then took her in the first round of the WNBA Expansion Draft on Saturday, April 4, 2026, out of Indiana.
Cut at a training camp last year, she is now wanted by another WNBA club, and this time on a standard deal.
Neither the Sky nor the Lynx had confirmed the move at the time of publication.
