  • Five Aussies have been invited to the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago from May 11-18
  • NBL champion Lachlan Olbrich missed out on an invite to the camp
  • Perth Wildcats Next Star Izan Almansa was also invited

Five Australians will have the chance to showcase their skills and compete against the best prospects from around the world after being invited to the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago from May 11-18.

College stars Alex Condon (Florida) and Tyrese Proctor (Duke) headline the Aussie contingent, while NBL talents Alex Toohey (Sydney Kings), Rocco Zikarsky (Brisbane Bullets) and Ben Henshall (Perth Wildcats) were also among the 75 players invited to the combine at the Wintrust Arena and the Marriott Marquis.

Perth Next Star Izan Almansa will also compete at the event, while the biggest omission was Illawarra Hawks big man and NBL champion Lachlan Olbrich, who recently announced he had declared for the draft.

South East Melbourne Phoenix Next Star Malique Lewis also missed out.

The combine is seen as a critical part of the draft process and consists of tests, including standing reach, wingspan, standing vertical leap, max vertical leap as well as athletic and shooting skills and also scrimmages, giving talents to chance to test themselves against other potential picks.

It is also seen as an indicator for if a player is in contention to be selected on draft day with one agent telling basketball.com.au "if you aren't invited to the combine, the chances of getting drafted are next to none".

NCAA champion Condon is predicted to be selected late in the first round while in the latest NBA Draft rankings from The Athletic Proctor is at No.37, Toohey is at No.43, Zikarsky at No.45 and Almansa at No.55.

The combine invites also come after NBA champion and Australian basketball icon Andrew Bogut broke down his draft experience and spoke about the Aussies up for selection this year in his latest column.

The NBA Draft is on June 26 and 27 at the Barclays Center.
