An NBA fan has been ejected from the Charlotte Hornets home court arena after an exchange with Australian superstar Josh Giddey today (AEDT).
AAP reports: "With 1:16 left on the clock and the Bulls trailing 119-112 in Charlotte, a sunglass-wearing male supporter got under the skin of Giddey prior to a Chicago in-bound play. The fan called out, taunting the Boomers gun, as he danced and 'flipped the bird'."
Giddey went to the fan sitting in the second row but the a referee got between the two. Security arrived and removed the man.
"He just said something I didn't like and I went over to him – that was it," Giddey said.
"Security took him out and that was the end of it."
As he was ejected, the game commentator nailed it: "It's a bad sign when you're wearing sunglasses inside."
Giddey's All-Star start to the 2025-26 NBA season continued in Charlotte but his 25 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists in 33 minutes weren't enough to lead the Bulls past the Hornets, losing 123-116 in NBA Cup clash.
Giddey, 23, is averaging 20.5 points, 9.9 rebounds and 9.5 assists for the 9-9 Bulls, who have cooled dramatically after their 6-1 start.
The 6'7 guard logged 33 minutes, finishing with 25 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 assists, shooting an efficient 8–16 from the field, 3–7 from deep, and 6–7 at the line. Giddey added a steal and once again showcased his elite all-around creation, pacing the Bulls offensively throughout the matchup.
It would have been his fifth triple double of season. He remains in 22 for his career.
