NBA Champions and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famers Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett are coming to Australia for the NBA x NBL Melbourne Series this week.
They will be in Melbourne as part of the series and will take part in an exclusive on-court Q&A during the Open Training Session on Thursday, October 2, and appear at a pre-match lunch event ahead of the Melbourne United vs New Orleans Pelicans game.
Allen is a two-time NBA champion with the Boston Celtics in 2008 and the Miami Heat in 2013. He hit arguably one of the greatest threes in NBA Finals history in Game Six against the San Antonio Spurs with the Heat down three. Allen let fly from the right corner and hit nothing but the bottom to tie the ball game at 105 with 5.2 seconds left. The Heat went on to win the series in seven games.
Garnett, 49, is an NBA champion with the Boston Celtics and known as one of the toughest and most intense players to have ever played the game. He is a 15-time NBA All-Star, 2004 NBA MVP, and teammates with Allen during their all-conquering 2008 Boston Celtics championship run.
Adding to a week already packed with two games, a fan night, open training session and fan zone, their appearances brings star power from the NBA to local fans.
Tones And I, the multi-platinum ARIA award-winning singer-songwriter and passionate Melbourne United fan, will also perform two live sets during the series.
She will take the stage for a half-time show at the sold-out United vs Pelicans game on Friday, October 3, and deliver a headline performance at Fan Night on Saturday, October 4.
“We are extremely excited to have Tones And I headline the NBA x NBL Melbourne Series,” NBL Chief Event & Project Officer Alex Hamilton said.
“Her passion for the NBL and her connection to the community make her the perfect artist for this historical moment.
"With a week already packed full with two incredible games, a fan night, open training session and fan zone, adding a world-class performer to the mix is a perfect complement that elevates the experience even further.
"It’s a celebration of sport, culture, and connection, and we know fans will be blown away by the talent on show.
"A huge thank you to Tones And I for helping make this week truly unforgettable.”
Tickets for the United v Pelicans game are sold out, while limited tickets remain for Fan Night and Ray Allen’s special events.
Fans are encouraged to secure their seats now to avoid missing out.
