Rising South East Melbourne Phoenix point guard Owen Foxwell will leave the NBL and take his talents to the NCAA after reports he has committed to Louisiana State University for next season.
Draft Express expert Jonathan Givony was the first to report the news earlier today.
"NEWS: Australian Owen Foxwell has committed to LSU in the class of 2026, a source told DraftExpress. The 6’2, 22-year-old is one of the NBL’s best local guards, bringing high-level playmaking, winning experience, and toughness to the SEC next year," his post on X read.
Foxwell will join an LSU team, which already features Brisbane product Max Mackinnon - the son of NBL legend and former Australian Boomers superstar Sam Mackinnon - and also adds to the long list of Aussies to represent the Tigers following the likes of Ben Simmons and Ed Palubinskas.
The Victorian junior is coming off a career-best season with the Phoenix, averaging 11.1 points, 4.5 assists and three rebounds per game, helping Josh King's team to third on the ladder with a play-in qualifier against the Perth Wildcats ahead.
Foxwell has also starred for the Boomers, starting at the point guard during their FIBA Asia Cup victory last year and to a recent series win over the New Zealand Tall Blacks.
