'Allen Key': Bec unlocks Liberty's 40-point rout of Aces

New York Liberty and Australian veteran guard Rebecca Allen put up 13 points on 5-from-7 shooting and pulled down eight rebounds as the Liberty hammered a short-handed Las Vegas 111-71 at Barclays Center on Monday, August 10, 2026 (AEST).
Eight Australians were on a WNBA roster overnight. None had a better game than Allen.
The game was gone inside four minutes of the third quarter, and she was all of it. New York opened the half on a 7-0 run: Allen assisted Pauline Astier's layup, hit a nine-footer off a Breanna Stewart feed, then buried a 26-foot three from Astier's pass. Five points scored, two created, 50-39 out to 57-39.
Las Vegas did not answer for five minutes and 38 seconds.
Allen, 33, finished 2-from-4 from deep and 1-from-1 from the line with two steals, a block, two offensive rebounds and not a single turnover in 22 minutes. She was plus-26.
The Aces were on the second night of a back-to-back that had them in Minnesota the day before, and they rested A'ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young.
Stephanie Talbot, 32, played 21 minutes for Las Vegas in the wreckage: four points on 1-from-3, a three, two rebounds and a steal. She was minus-30, the worst mark on the floor.
New York have won four of their last five and sit seventh at 20-13. Las Vegas are third at 22-11.
Georgia Amoore had the strangest line of the day and it still worked
Washington Mystics point guard Georgia Amoore, 25, missed all four of her shots, all four of them threes, and finished with no points. But she handed out six assists, didn't turn the ball over in 21 minutes, and was +28 in a 95-75 win against Phoenix.
Washington have now won seven in a row. The franchise record is eight, set in 2018.
Sami Whitcomb, 38, went the other way for the Mercury: three points on 1-from-3, three assists and a steal in 14 minutes off the bench. Phoenix have lost three straight and four of five.
Amoore's Mystics are fifth at 19-12. Whitcomb's Mercury are 12-22.
Alanna Smith worked for hers
The Dallas Wings forward Alanna Smith, 29, had 11 points and eight rebounds in 27 minutes, three of those boards at the offensive end, on 5-from-13 shooting. It was not enough against a Minnesota side that made 18 three-pointers.
Kayla McBride made 10 of them, a WNBA record, on the way to a career-high 43 points as the Lynx won 103-90 and became the first team in the league to clinch a playoff berth.
Chloe Bibby, 28, did not play for Minnesota, listed as personal. She signed with the Lynx on 1 August, so she is nine days into a club that is now the first one into the postseason.
Dallas are eighth at 19-14 and have lost three in a row.
Two Australians were on rosters but not in a game-day squads. Anneli Maley, 27, was out of New York's 12, and Miela Sowah, 26, out of Golden State's, as the Valkyries held off the Los Angeles Sparks 84-78. Both are development players, and both remain on their club's active list.
Seattle are 6-28 and are the only club in the league already eliminated from the playoffs, which makes Ezi Magbegor and Jade Melbourne the first two Australians out of the 2026 race.
