Opals centre Ezi Magbegor will almost certainly become Australia's first multi-million dollar women's basketballer after receiving a core qualifying offer from the Seattle Storm ahead of the 2026 WNBA season.
Magbegor, 26, is one of 10 players on 10 different teams to receive the core offer, which means in her case the Storm has the exclusive negotiation rights for the baseline "supermax" contract for a fully guaranteed one-year deal worth USD $1.4M (about AUD $2M)
WNBA free agency started on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 (AEST) and Magbegor, along with co-WNBA Defensive Player of the Year Alanna Smith, are highly coveted bigs.
The new collective bargaining agreement will create at least 10 million-dollar a season players for the first time in the league's history.
