"Boomer Bryce" Cotton is the marquee but Australian men's head coach Adam Caporn is using the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers at RAC Arena in Perth next month to test part of Generation Next ahead of the 2027 tournament.

Caporn has named Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Tyrese Proctor, newly signed Tasmania JackJumpers guard Taran Armstrong and Florida Gators NCAA Men's champion Alex Condon in the 12-player team.

“Competing as a Boomer on Australian soil is always special and there’s a real excitement around this group and the opportunity to play in Perth in front of such a passionate basketball community,” said Caporn.

“As we continue building towards Qatar 2027, we’ve brought together a strong mix of experience, emerging talent and athletes earning their first opportunity with the Boomers, which makes this window particularly exciting.

“The FIBA qualifiers are critically important for our program and we’re approaching this camp and these games with great intent.

"We’re looking to continue developing our systems, strengthen the connections within the group and represent Australia with pride and competitiveness.”

“Every camp and game gives us an opportunity to build greater cohesion, establish habits and continue strengthening the identity we want the Boomers to represent,” added Boomers’ coach, Adam Caporn.

“We know Perth fans will bring incredible energy at RAC Arena and our group is excited for the chance to compete in front of them and represent Australia the right way.”

Six-time NBL MVP guard Bryce Cotton has revealed on May 14, 2026 that a mere 15 minutes spent switching visas during the COVID lockdown reset the shot clock he needed to become an Australian citizen and an Australian Boomer.

Cotton, 33, was unveiled as Australia’s newest Boomer and said it was: “very surreal for me.”

“Even when I first put the jersey on, I just took a little bit of time to stare at Australia and then see my name on the back.

“It’s been a very long process. Nonetheless finally got here.

“I’m very grateful for the opportunity, and I’m excited.”

The Boomers play Guam on July 3, 2026 and the Philippines on July 6.
