Australian Illawarra Hawks guard William "Davo" Hickey continues to build early trust in the South Bay Lakers rotation, scoring and contributing in three straight G League games across a busy March stretch.

Hickey played 9:58 in a one-point loss to Stockton (115–114) on March 24, 2026 finishing with four points, two rebounds and a steal, shooting 1-from-2 from the field and 1-of-1 at the line.

He had logged 14:14 in South Bay’s 119–111 win against Grand Rapids on March 21, contributing two points, four rebounds and three assists, but also four turnovers as he handled secondary playmaking duties.

Two nights earlier in another victory against the Gold (111–98), Hickey played 11:33, recording two points and two assists while helping stabilise the second unit.

Across the three-game stretch, the 1.96m guard is averaging 2.7 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 11.9 minutes, shooting 50% from the field — a modest but encouraging start as he works to carve out a consistent G League role.

Hickey, 27, has averaged 2.7 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 11.9 minutes per game as he works into the Lakers’ system.

The 1.96m guard has shot 50% from the field, with all his attempts coming inside the arc, while posting a 20% assist rate and modest 14.4% usage, reflecting a secondary playmaking role.

South Bay has been outscored during Hickey’s floor time (–12.7 net rating), but his defensive rebounding activity (10.5% DREB%) and ball movement have provided glimpses of his value as a connector.

Still early in the sample size, Hickey is competing to establish a consistent role in one of the NBA’s most closely watched development environments.
