Countrymen Jock Landale and Duop Reath almost matched each other basket for basket as they went head-to-head in a battle of the Australian Boomers enforcers in positive signs for the big man stocks of the Australian Boomers.
Landale and Reath both scored in double figures but it was the Memphis Grizzlies reserve centre who got the best of the match-up as his team dominated the Portland Trail Blazers at the FedEx Forum.
The 30-year-old two-time Olympian was part of a Grizzlies bench which completely outplayed the Trail Blazers with Landale, Santi Aldama and Kontavious Caldwell-Pope leading the way off the bench in production and in the plus-minus category.
Reath earned more minutes than usual, and as always, took the opportunity with both hands as Portland continues to struggle despite having an impressive start to the season.
In other news with Aussies in the NBA, Josh Giddey and the Chicago Bulls couldn't overcome a red-hot Golden State Warriors side, even without superstars Steph Curry and Draymond Green.
NBA Box Score: Denver Nuggets @ Charlotte Hornets
Australian wing Josh Green remains out of the Charlotte Hornets line-up. He has played in 2025-26 and his timetable to return from a shoulder injury remains uncertain.
NBA Box Score: Portland Trail Blazers @ Memphis Grizzlies
Jock Landale earned bragging rights over his Australian Boomers teammate, Duop Reath, after the Memphis Grizzlies earned a convincing 119-96 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers at FedEx Forum.
Both Aussies had plenty of opportunity with Landale playing 21 minutes off the bench and Reath 19 minutes but it was the former Melbourne United star, who had the better of the match-up with 15 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Landale did it off an efficient 4-from-7 from the field and 7-from-10 from the free-throw line. Reath had 12 points, including 3-from-4 from the three-point line, for the Trail Blazers.
Australian Boomer Matisse Thybulle has played just 19 games in since the start of the 2024-25 season. He played just 15 last season and just four this season and remains out with a thumb injury.
NBA Box Score: Golden State Warriors @ Chicago Bulls
Josh Giddey has had his second below-par game in a row as his Chicago Bulls were dominated by an undermanned Golden State Warriors 123-91 at the United Center.
After a nine-point performance in a loss to the Indiana Pacers on Saturday, Giddey struggled to find his best again against the swarming Warriors defence, only reaching 18 points, five assists and three rebounds along with four turnovers in the 32-point loss.
The former NBL Next Star will need to find his form again quickly, firstly for the Bulls to stop their slide down the Eastern Conference standings but also to give himself any hope of becoming an All-Star this season.
