Tyrese Proctor’s embryonic NBA journey reached another milestone Monday, earning a pre-season start for the Cleveland Cavaliers in their 138–107 pre-season loss to the Boston Celtics.

As the Cavaliers rested their starting five for the game, the 21-year-old Sydney product logged 28 minutes and impressed in his extended run, finishing with 14 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals, while shooting 5-of-14 from the field. Despite the heavy defeat, it was a promising glimpse of what Proctor could bring as a lead guard option for Cleveland heading into the season.

West Australian Luke Travers also featured off the bench, playing 13 minutes and contributing 4 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists on 1-of-4 shooting. Travers’ versatility was again on display as he provided energy and playmaking in limited minutes. His hairstyle also garnered attention.

In Chicago, Josh Giddey continued his strong pre-season form for the Bulls, stuffing the stat sheet in a 127–121 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. The Boomers guard tallied 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists in 24 minutes, shooting 4-of-7 from the field and 1-of-3 from deep.

Rookie Lachlan Olbrich also made a brief appearance, playing three minutes and recording one rebound in his first action of the pre-season.
