A clash between Aussies headlined a big day of college basketball in the NCAA

It was a big first official day of college basketball for our Australian men competing in the NCAA Division 1 competition.

From West Australian Alex Condon's defending national champion Florida Gators taking on fellow Aussie Anthony Dell'Orso and the Arizona Wildcats, to prized Pitt recruit Roman Siulepa making his debut and Austin Rapp's first game in his new colours - day one had everything.

NCAA Box Score: Florida Gators vs Arizona Wildcats

Melbourne's Anthony Dell'Orso has earned bragging rights over fellow Aussie Alex Condon after his Arizona Wildcats toppled the defending national champion Florida Gators 93-87 at the Hall of Fame Series in Las Vegas.

The senior guard had eight points, four rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes as the No.13 earned a six-point victory over the No.13 ranked Gators despite only shooting five threes, of which they made two.

The contest was a free-throw fest with 68 attempts from the charity stripe between both teams.

Condon had 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists for Florida.

NCAA Box Score: Pittsburgh Panthers vs Youngstown State

College basketball finally got a taste of Australian excitement machine Roman Siulepa after the dynamic forward made his NCAA debut in Pitt's 74-59 domination of the Youngstown State Penguins at the Petersen Events Center.

The Queenslander had four points, six rebounds and one assist for Pitt to give a slight glimpse into what college hoops fans have in store for them this season.

Siulepa made the jump to college basketball despite interest from the professional ranks, including the NBL.

NCAA Box Score: Charleston Cougars vs Tusculum Pioneers

Aussie sophomore Chol Machot was impressive for the Cougars in their 79-58 victory to start their season, posting a 14-point and 10-rebound double-double in his team's 21-point win.

The 213cm, 83kg Melbourne product starred as Charleston earned a dominant win despite going 1-from-24 from the three-point line.

Fellow Aussie and teammate Will Mortimore was a DNP.
