Four Australians. Eight points. Allen played half the minutes.

Four Australians took the floor in the WNBA on Sunday and scored eight points between them. The fifth did not get off the bench.
Rebecca Allen was the exception on minutes, if not on the scoreboard. The New York Liberty veteran played 29 minutes at Connecticut, exactly as many as the other three Australians who took the floor managed between them, and finished with six points and five rebounds on 2-from-5 shooting, both of her makes from beyond the arc, as the Liberty won 82-75.
It was a quietly significant night for her. Allen announced last week that she is retiring from the WNBA and the Opals at the end of the season, and Connecticut are 8-25 and moving to Houston at the end of the year. She is unlikely to play at Mohegan Sun again.
New York were without Sabrina Ionescu, and were down 27-19 after a quarter before Jonquel Jones dragged them back with 19 points in the first half. Marine Johannes broke it open in the fourth. Olivia Nelson-Ododa had 21 and 10 for the Sun.
Anneli Maley was the second Australian on the floor for the Liberty, playing eight minutes off the bench for two rebounds, two assists and a block without taking a shot she made. She went 0-from-2 and finished plus-one.
In Washington, Georgia Amoore played 11 minutes without scoring, missing both her attempts, both from three, in an 80-70 Mystics win over the Los Angeles Sparks. She had one assist. Washington were down 58-55 going into the fourth and won the quarter 25-12.
Stephanie Talbot had the only other Australian points of the day. Ten minutes off the bench for Las Vegas, two points on 1-from-3, a steal and a block, and the Aces lost 92-87 at home to Minnesota.
The Australian who did not play is the one worth watching. Chloe Bibby was a healthy scratch for the Lynx, listed as a coach's decision. She signed a standard contract with Minnesota in early August after being waived at training camp, a knee injury and an expansion draft, and she has now gone from that hard-won deal to the wrong end of a rotation on a night her team won on the road.
None of the four who played reached double figures. Only Allen and Talbot scored at all.
It is a thin return with under three weeks until Berlin, on a night when none of the four was asked to do much.
The next slate is better. Monday morning Australian time brings three games with five Australians in them, including the only Australian-against-Australian fixture of the week when Sami Whitcomb's Phoenix Mercury host Nyadiew Puoch's Portland Fire at 9am AEST.
Ezi Magbegor and Jade Melbourne play for Seattle against Chicago at 7am, and Isobel Borlase plays for Atlanta against Indiana at the same time.
