Ezi's block party rolls on for Seattle Storm
Magbegor and Seattle are climbing up the WNBA standings after an impressive win.

Aussie WNBA star Ezi Magbegor's block party for the 2025 season rolls on after she controlled the paint to help the Seattle Storm to a dominant 101-85 win over Connecticut Sun at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
Magbegor, who was picked as a Defensive Player of the Year candidate before season tip-off, had 10 points, five rebounds and three assists to go along with four blocks in just 17 minutes for the visitors.
The teams traded baskets early in the first quarter, with the score knotted at 13-13 midway through the period. Seattle then established control, closing the quarter on a 14-8 run to take a 27-21 lead. Nneka Ogwumike's three-pointer with 5:46 remaining in the first quarter gave the Storm their first meaningful lead.
In the second quarter, the Storm's offensive efficiency reached outstanding levels. They shot a blistering 60 percent from the field, extending their advantage to 57-46 by halftime. Skylar Diggins-Smith's layup at the 8:32 mark sparked a 12-2 run that put Seattle firmly in control.
The third quarter proved decisive as Seattle outscored Connecticut 30-12 behind stellar defense and efficient offense. Ezi Magbegor was dominant during this stretch, controlling the paint with two blocks and stellar rim protection. By the 3:09 mark, the Storm had built an insurmountable 28-point lead following Erica Wheeler's three-pointer.
Seattle's efficiency was the difference throughout the contest. The Storm shot an impressive 60.9 percent from the field (42-from-69) compared to the Sun's 40.3 percent (27-from-67). The visitors also connected on nine three-pointers at a solid 45 percent clip, while dominating inside with 33 two-point field goals.
Magbegor was efficient in her playing time, shooting 4-from-5 from the field, including 2-from-2 from the free-throw line for Seattle.
The former Melbourne Boomers WNBL star and 2024 Olympic bronze medallist sits second in the league for blocks per game wiith 2.2, only trailing A'ja Wilson with 2.4 per game. Fellow Aussie Alanna Smith is third with two per game.
With this convincing victory, the Storm improved to 15-11, strengthening their playoff positioning in the competitive WNBA standings having climbed to fifth on the standings, while the loss dropped the Connecticut Sun to 4-20, continuing their disappointing season.
