NBA G-League guard Javon Freeman-Liberty signs with Brisbane Bullets for NBL 2025-26 season

Brisbane's backcourt is locked and loaded after the Bullets signed NBA G-League guard Javon Freeman-Liberty as their last import ahead of the start of the NBL 2025-26 season yesterday.

"I’m excited to come to Brisbane and join a team that’s hungry for success," Freeman-Liberty said.

"The NBL has a reputation as one of the toughest leagues in the world, and I’m ready to bring my grit, energy, and all-out effort to the Bullets.

"I can’t wait to meet the fans, get on the court with my teammates, and chase something special this season."

The 25-year-old 193cm (6'4") two-way guard joins 2022 NBL MVP Jaylen Adams, who signed with the Bullets after three seasons — including a championship — with the Sydney Kings.

"To add a talent of Javon’s caliber to our roster at this stage is really exciting," Bullets head coach Stu Lash said.

He’s a hungry player who’s ready to take the next step in his development as a professional.

“His toughness, ferocity, and willingness to compete make him a natural fit for what we value at the Brisbane Bullets.

"Javon will fit seamlessly into our playing group, and I have no doubt he’ll make an immediate impact in the NBL."

The Chicago-born guard has played the past two seasons for the G-League's Windy City Bulls. In 2023-24, he averaged 18.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, shooting 36% from beyond the arc.

In the signing announcement, the Bullets boasted: "(He) combines dynamic scoring ability with defensive grit, making him a perfect fit for head coach Stu Lash’s vision of a fast, physical, and high-pressure Bullets team.

"His ability to attack the rim, create his own shot, and apply relentless defensive pressure will give the Bullets an immediate edge on both ends of the floor.

"The Bullets are confident that Freeman-Liberty’s combination of athleticism, defensive tenacity, and big-game mentality will quickly make him a fan favourite.

Freeman-Liberty played his Senior year at DePaul in 2021-22 and his numbers were impressive. He lead the team in scoring at 21.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. He earned All-Big East honours but went undrafted in 2022.
