The reigning NBL champions have pulled off one of the biggest signing coups of the off-season by inking grand final MVP Kendric Davis to a new two year deal, the club said.
Coach Brian Goorjian and the Kings made it known early that Davis was their number one target after his stunning performance throughout the five-game Grand Final series against nemesis Bryce Cotton‘s Adelaide 36ers secured the Harbour City’s sixth title.
It's believed the deal is worth $1.2M per season.
The combustible import guard, who secured the Larry Sengstock Medal by averaging 27.2 points, 10.4 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game, while dishing out an NBL-record 52 total assists across the series, will now rekindle that captivating rivalry with Cotton.
The Sixers star beat Davis by two votes to win a sixth MVP last season, sending the King on an epic rant that led to bombshell exchanges between the pair throughout the series and, ultimately, championship glory for the purple and gold.
That deal is now done and Goorj and the Kings can begin to fill out a roster that is targeting back-to-back titles.
“Kendric is a competitor in every sense of the word,” Goorjian said.
