Former NBA two-way guard David Duke Jr. is the player the Perth Wildcats hope can go some way to replacing the gaping hole left by five-time MVP Bryce Cotton.
The 4-3 Wildcats missed on G-League star Mason Jones, waiving the Stockton Kings guard last week.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the Wildcats and becoming part of such a respected organisation," Duke Jr. said.
"This is a club with a proud tradition of success, and I’m looking forward to doing whatever I can to help the team compete for another championship in front of the incredible Red Army!”
Perth Wildcats head coach John Rillie added: "With David joining us, he will allow our defence to continue to grow as he’s elite at the guard spot.
"He’s a dynamic open court player so he will generate some easier baskets, something this team has lacked to date."
The signing is pending approval from the NBL.
Duke Jr played 55 games for the San Antonio Spurs, starting seven. He averaged 4.2 points, 2.0 rebounds, 0.9 assists in 11.9 minutes. He's a 19.6 ppg, 6.5 rpg and 3.9 assists guy in the G-League. He's a career 33.7% shooter from deep.
He played with the Phoenix Suns in the 2025-26 NBA pre-season.
