Kody Stattmann has been the standout player on the competition's best team, and with three rounds remaining, his unbeaten Cairns Marlins are in complete control of the NBL1 North men's title race.
The Cairns Taipans NBL wing has averaged 27.4 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting 54% from the field, helping Cairns to a perfect 12-0 record and placing himself firmly in the MVP conversation.
But the race for both the championship and the league's highest individual honour is far from settled.
Stattmann's Cairns chasing perfection
Cairns has been the benchmark all season, leading the league in both wins and percentage while outscoring opponents by 258 points.
The Marlins' run home is favourable, although a Round 13 showdown against Logan Thunder looms as their biggest remaining hurdle before finishing against Rockhampton.
If Stattmann continues his current form and Cairns remains unbeaten, both the MVP award and the minor premiership may belong to the Marlins.
James Whitt driving Gold Coast's title challenge
While Cairns sits comfortably on top, James Whitt has helped keep Gold Coast within striking distance.
Whitt has produced one of the league's most complete statistical seasons, averaging 24.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists and a league-best 3.6 steals while shooting an outstanding 61% from the field.
The Rollers sit 10-2 and still have an outside chance of catching Cairns, but they'll almost certainly need the Marlins to stumble while winning out themselves.
Gold Coast's remaining schedule includes Ipswich before games against South West Metro, North Gold Coast and Mackay.

Flynn Cameron trying to rescue South West Metro
No player has been more explosive since arriving than former Australian Boomer Flynn Cameron.
Despite playing only four games, Cameron is averaging an extraordinary 34.3 points, 10.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists, instantly transforming South West Metro into one of the competition's form teams.
The Pirates have won four of their past five games and remain an outside finals chance, although Cameron and company face a brutal finish against Logan, Gold Coast and Mackay.
If he reaches the games qualification threshold, Cameron could still challenge for the league scoring title.
Tamuri Wigness keeping Southern Districts alive
Few players carry a heavier workload than Tamuri Wigness.
The Spartans star averages 27.2 points, 5.6 assists and 5.9 rebounds, consistently producing despite Southern Districts fighting to remain inside the top eight.
The Spartans immediately face unbeaten Cairns before a bye, making every possession of the run home critical.
Quintin Dove still carrying Northside
Northside Wizards remain outside the playoff positions, but Quintin Dove has done everything possible to keep their season alive.
The prolific scorer averages 29.0 points per game, second only to Flynn Cameron among the league leaders, and continues to be one of the competition's most difficult matchups.
Northside's remaining schedule includes Logan, Brisbane and Sunshine Coast before a final-round clash with North Gold Coast.
The playmakers and sharpshooters
Ipswich guard Preston Le Gassick remains the league's premier creator, averaging 23.1 points and 8.9 assists, while former NBL forward Jalen Graham continues to dominate inside with 22.7 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocks.
Perimeter threats Lachlan Anderson, Tyler Williams and Samuel McDaniel have also enjoyed outstanding seasons, each averaging more than 21 points while stretching opposing defences from beyond the arc.
Five games likely to decide everything
With only three rounds remaining, several games could determine both the ladder and the MVP race.
- Round 12: Ipswich Force vs Gold Coast Rollers
- Round 13: Cairns Marlins vs Logan Thunder
- Round 13: Mackay Meteors vs Sunshine Coast Phoenix
- Round 14: Logan Thunder vs Ipswich Force
- Round 14: Gold Coast Rollers vs Mackay Meteors
Whether it's Stattmann chasing an unbeaten season, Whitt leading Gold Coast's pursuit, Cameron dragging South West Metro into finals contention or Wigness and Dove refusing to let their teams fade away, the NBL1 North's final three rounds promise to be shaped as much by its stars as its standings.
