'Especially not him': Cotton flames NBL commentator
The five-time MVP has given a savage response after comments about his Adelaide 36ers
- Bryce Cotton is leading the NBL in scoring at 29.4 points per game
- Cotton had a season-high 53 points against the Cairns Taipans
- The three-time NBL champion has led the 36ers to a 5-2 start to the season
The greatest import to ever play in the NBL in five-time MVP Bryce Cotton has fired back at commentator and former player Damon Lowery over comments he made claiming the Adelaide 36ers don't have the offensive weapons to win a championship.
Lowery, who was part of the Wollongong Hawks NBL championship in 2001, made the comments on October 17.
"If Adelaide are going to be serious about winning the whole thing, I think they don't have enough offensive firepower," he said.
"When you got to go and beat Melbourne United, and I don't know how anybody is going to do that without full guns blasting, so I think they need someone else."
Cotton, who is lighting it up with his new team with an average of 29.4 points per game to lead the competition, responded savagely in an exclusive interview with 10 Sport's @jasetaylorkemp.
"He hasn't done enough as a basketball player for me to respect his opinion," Cotton said.
"I usually don't listen to anybody but especially not him."
Lowery's comments could come back to bite him after the 36ers' impressive start to the season, sitting second on the ladder with a record of 5-2, tied with South East Melbourne Phoenix and only trailing the undefeated United.
Cotton's response also comes after Adelaide pushed United to the brink, losing 81-80 on a game-winning three-pointer from United guard Tyson Walker.
Adelaide host the Illawarra Hawks on Sunday.
