The Atlanta Hawks have moved quickly to part ways with four-time NBA All-Star point guard Trae Young after trading him to the Washington Wizards.
ESPN's Shams Charania first reported the Hawks have traded Young to the Wizards for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert.
The move comes after the Hawks showed more promise with Young sidelined with injury and boasting an exciting young core, featuring the likes of Aussie defensive stopper Dyson Daniels, Jalen Johnson, Onyeka Okongwu, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and the 2024 No.1 pick Zaccharie Risacher.
It was also reported Washington was the favoured destination for Young, whose seven-year career with the Hawks has come to an end.
Charania also reported the Young move provides Atlanta with the financial flexibility to pursue names such as big man Anthony Davis in the coming months and also gives them an expiring contract in McCollum, who can have an impact on their run to the playoffs.
More to come.
