NBA fans were treated to an epic duel between MVP contenders Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Anthony Edwards as the Minnesota Timberwolves almost pulled off an upset victory over the defending champions in the Emirates Cup.
Aussie veteran Joe Ingles and the Timberwolves were right in the mix after a 32-29 third quarter but the reigning MVP came up with the clutch players the Thunder needed to finish with the victory.
To many, it's a possible preview of a Western Conference playoffs series with both teams predicted to be there when it matters most later in the season.
It was a quiet day for Aussies in the NBA, apart from Lachlan Olbrich in the G League, with Jock Landale the only green and gold product to feature heavily on the court.
NBA BOX SCORE: Charlotte Hornets vs New York Knicks
Aussie wing Josh Green didn't play for the Charlotte Hornets against the New York Knicks due to a shoulder injury, he is yet to play a game this season.
The Knicks easily accounted for the Hornets 129-101 at the Spectrum Center.
NBA BOX SCORE: Indiana Pacers vs Toronto Raptors
Johnny Furphy missed another game for the Indiana Pacers with an ankle injury. The Toronto Raptors beat the Pacers 97-95 at Scotiabank Arena.
Brandon Ingram had 26 points for the Raptors.
NBA BOX SCORE: Oklahoma City Thunder vs Minnesota Timberwolves
Australian Boomers legend Joe Ingles received a DNP Coach's Decision but the Minnesota Timberwolves showed they could match it with the defending champions, despite a seven-point loss to the OKC Thunder.
Anthony Edwards had 31 points in the clash while SGA dropped 40.
NBA BOX SCORE: New Orleans Pelicans vs Memphis Grizzlies
The increased production of Jock Landale has helped the Memphis Grizzlies establish an impressive big man rotation with Zach Edey back in the line-up.
After equalling his career-high of 26 points against the Denver Nuggets earlier in the week, Landale reached double figures again, scoring 11 points in 18 minutes off the bench for the Grizzlies. The Boomers centre went 5-from-11 from the field and 1-from-2 from beyond the arc to play his role in Memphis' 133-128 win over the New Orleans Pelicans at the Smoothie King Center.
As a big man combination, Landale and Edey combined for 32 points with the former Purdue Boilermakers score having a big night out with 21 points and 15 rebounds.
NBA BOX SCORE: Portland Trail Blazers vs San Antonio Spurs
Aussie big man Duop Reath only played one minute in the closing stages of the Portland Trail Blazers' 115-102 Emirates Cup loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Former Boomers teammate, Matisse Thybulle, is still sidelined with a thumb injury for Portland.
De'Aaron Fox led the way for the Spurs with 37 points, eight assists and six rebounds while San Antonio star Victor Wembanyama sits out with injury.
