Australian NBA star Josh Giddey has paid tribute to victims of the tragic Bondi shooting with special writing on his sneakers for the Chicago Bulls clash with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Giddey donned an orange pair of Pumas with 'Australia' with a love heart written on the sneakers.

The Melbourne product's gesture comes after 15 people were killed when two gunman opened fire at a Jewish Hannukah event at the iconic Bondi Beach on Sunday, December 14.

Despite Giddey and the Bulls' disappointing loss to the Pelicans, it was a touching gesture from one of Australia's top sporting stars.

The Boomers point guard was one of many top Aussie basketballers to share their condolences and thoughts following the tragedy with Olympic teammate and Memphis Grizzlies big man Jock Landale letting his thoughts known on Instagram.

"Something needs to change," Landale wrote.

"This violates what we believe Australia to be. SAFE. No place for violence like this back home."

Landale also wrote "HERO", referring to Ahmed el Ahmad, a Sydney man who tackled one of the terrorists, stripping home of a gun.

The NBL and WNBL also shared a statement following the tragedy.

"The NBL and WNBL extend its deepest sympathies and individuals affected by the shocking terrorist attack that occured at Bondi yesterday," the statement said.

"We are horrified to see the tragic loss of innocent lives - people who were celebrating Hannukah, the Jewish 'Festival of Light', and who should have been able to go about these celebrations safely and in peace.

"Everyone in Australia deserves to live safely and free from discrimination.

"We thank the first responders and members of the community who acted with courage and compassion, providing lifesaving first aid and supporting those in need. Today, the NBL and WNBL families stand united with the Jewish community and all Australians.

"We condemn hate and extremism, and hold those affected in our thoughts and prayers."
