Australian point guard Josh Giddey is drawing closer to passing the GOAT Michael Jordan for the single season triple-double record in a Chicago Bulls uniform after recording his seventh of the 2025-26 season.
Giddey reached the mark against fellow Aussie Dyson Daniels and the Atlanta Hawks, and is now just eight away from what Jordan did during the 1988-89 season (15 triple-doubles) - a record which has stood for more than 36 years.
In doing so, the 23-year-old recorded his 25th career triple-double, drawing level with NBA legend Clyde Drexler on the league's all-time triple-double list in 22nd spot.
Giddey's triple-double against the Hawks was the fastest in Bulls history, getting there in just 20 minutes. It puts him one triple-double away from joining Scottie Pippen on the second-most in a Bulls uniform with 15. Jordan leads the way with 28.
However, Giddey has reached the mark less than halfway through his fifth season, compared to Drexler, who played 16 seasons in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers and Houston Rockets, winning one championship along the way.
The Melbourne Tigers product now just sits one triple-double away from Elgin Baylor (26), three away from Jordan (28) and seven away from another Aussie in Ben Simmons, who has 33 career triple-doubles.
Giddey is already in the company of Hall of Famers Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Oscar Robertson.
Jordan, Magic, Bird, Grant Hill and Jason Kidd each had 20 triple doubles in their first five season. All five are in the Hall of Fame.
NBA BOX SCORE: Atlanta Hawks vs Chicago Bulls
Josh Giddey and the Chicago Bulls completed a remarkable fourth-quarter comeback to beat the Atlanta Hawks 126-123 at State Farm Arena.
The Hawks seemingly had the game in their grasp before a 34-18 final period allowed the Bulls to win their second straight game over Atlanta after Giddey's crew beat Dyson Daniels' side just days ago.
Giddey recorded his seventh triple-double of the season with 19 points (8-from-15 FG and 2-from-5 3PT), 11 rebounds and 15 assists. The Boomers point guard also had seven turnovers in the contest. Daniels missed the game with a hip injury.
The win is Chicago's fourth straight victory.
NBA BOX SCORE: Utah Jazz vs Memphis Grizzlies
Now is the time to buy some Jock Landale stock.
The Aussie big man hit double figures for the 18th time this season, scoring 17 points off the bench to help the Memphis Grizzlies to a 134-124 road win over the Utah Jazz.
Landale went 6-from-10 from the field and 1-from-4 from the three-point line while also grabbing eight rebounds to fall just short of another double-double.
The performance comes after ESPN front office insider Bobby Marks put Landale in his 'NBA All Value Team - 15 players outperforming their deals', considering the Boomers enforcer signed for just a $2.4 million minimum contract in the offseason.
NBA BOX SCORE: Charlotte Hornets vs Washington Wizards
Josh Green has hit a three in five consecutive games after the Charlotte Hornets beat the Washington Wizards 126-109 at Spectrum Center.
The Hornets look an improved team inrecent weeks, especially since Green's return from a shoulder injury. The Aussie Boomers wing played 11 minutes in the victory for three points, two rebounds and two assists.
NBA BOX SCORE: Portland Trail Blazers vs Orlando Magic
Game in progress.
