Game in Progress: Chicago Bulls Australian point guard Josh Giddey dropped a career-high 32 as the Bulls held off the New York Knicks 135-125 to keep their unbeaten streak to start the season alive (5-0).

Giddey, 23, scored more than 30 points for the first time in his Bulls career, after a spectacular first half. He led the Bulls to a commanding 72-53 led at halftime, stuffing the stat sheet with 21 points, six rebounds, four assists and a steal. He was 7-from-10 from the field, including a RED-HOT 4-from-5 threes.

He finished with another double double and a near triple double: 32 points; 10 rebounds, nine assists and a steal. He shot 57.1% from the field, including 4-from-8 threes.

Coming into today, Giddey's career high was 31 for the Oklahoma City Thunder on March 28, 2023.

He was interviewed at half-time as his teammates headed to the locker room, talking about the importance of playing with pace.

"Very important,' he said.

"I mean, it's important, you know, irrespective of who we're playing against. But I guess a team that’s historically likes to keep it in the half court, it's even more important tonight. So when they started big with Robinson and Cat, we knew we had to put them in transition, make a run — and that’s exactly what we did."

He then talked about the impact the Bulls' bench was making as they started the season 4-0.

"It’s been huge,' he added.

"And we’ve kind of spoke about it all year — having numbers and being able to go 10, 11 deep. And you see it: when the first unit comes out, the second unit keeps the pace right where it is. So it’s been massive. I was huge in that first half, he’s been great all year.

"So we need another big second half and then put these guys away."

The Bulls didn't as the Knicks (2-3) made six straight threes to come back from 22 down to make it a ball game down the stretch and almost a horror movie.
