Willetton Tigers’ grip on top spot loosened after Geraldton Buccaneers exposed more defensive cracks, while Perth Redbacks outgunned Goldfields Giants in a 210-point shootout as offence dominated NBL1 West Round 7.
Across the weekend, contenders separated themselves through elite scoring depth, ball movement and perimeter shooting, with Geraldton, Perth and Rockingham all producing statement offensive performances.
The round also tightened the race beneath Willetton, with four teams now firmly in the championship conversation as the season’s middle stretch begins to take shape.

Perth Redbacks escaped Kalgoorlie after surviving one of the wildest offensive performances of the NBL1 West season.
Both teams shot above 53% from the field and combined for 210 points as the game became a full-court scoring contest from the second quarter onward.
Perth’s ball movement and perimeter shooting eventually separated the teams late, finishing with 30 assists and 17 made threes.
Isaac Etter exploded for 34 points and eight assists, shooting 7-from-12 from three, while Nicholas Floyd dominated inside with 24 points and 11 rebounds on 78.6% shooting.
Sean Conway added 21 points and five triples as Perth generated efficient offence almost every possession.
Goldfields answered through Michael Jok and Sam Vinson, who both produced elite all-round performances.
Jok finished with 33 points, eight assists and six triples, while Vinson controlled the game with 30 points and eight assists on 66.7% shooting.
Danny Pippen added 18 points off the bench, but Goldfields couldn’t generate enough stops late as Perth closed the game with superior offensive execution.

Geraldton Buccaneers strengthened their top-four credentials with an impressive road win against ladder leaders Willetton Tigers.
The Buccaneers controlled the game offensively for long stretches, shooting 51.5% from the field while repeatedly punishing Willetton’s defensive breakdowns.
Joshua Keyes was dominant with 29 points on 12-from-17 shooting, attacking efficiently both inside and from the perimeter.
Liam Hunt orchestrated the offence brilliantly with a triple-double of 13 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds, while Matthew Norman added 19 points and five made threes.
Geraldton finished with 29 assists and five players scoring at least 13 points in one of their most complete offensive performances of the season.
Willetton stayed close behind Taeshon Cherry, who finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Damien Scott added 13 points and seven assists.
But the Tigers struggled to contain Geraldton’s ball movement and perimeter efficiency, conceding 14 made threes and allowing the Buccaneers to control the final quarter.
The loss continued a worrying trend for Willetton defensively after conceding 110 points to Warwick earlier in the round.
