Australian Opals guard Izzy Borlase preparing herself for the WNBA and the defending WNBL champions Bendigo are reaping the rewards.
Borlase, 21, was drafted by the Atlanta Dream last year and moved from the Adelaide Lightning to the Spirit before the start of WNBL26. She is off to a flier, averaging 22 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists in four games.
"I want to make a WNBA roster," Borlase told basketball.com.au's Bec Cole in the latest episode of It's a Cole World.
"That’s where the best players are, I’m lucky enough that I did get drafted, Atlanta have my rights so I do have a team to go to when I’m I’m ready to to make that jump.
“I’m not really sure if there’s like a deadline of how long they can hold my rights for.
"I haven’t had heaps of communication with the Dream… I’m pretty sure they can hold them for as long as unless they trade you away or something like that but from what I’m aware of, they can hold them for as long as they want.”
