James Whitt and Ethan Betts starred as 2026 North Men Round 5 turned into an offensive shootout.

James Whitt and Ethan Betts delivered dominant performances as Gold Coast and Townsville survived high-scoring battles in North Men Round 5.

Whitt powered Gold Coast to Logan’s first loss of the season in a clash between early contenders, while Betts exploded from the perimeter as Townsville escaped Northside in a dramatic three-point finish.

Across the weekend, offensive firepower continued defining the North Men competition as multiple teams pushed beyond 95 points and the ladder race tightened behind unbeaten Cairns.

James Whitt dominated inside as Gold Coast Rollers handed Logan Thunder its first loss of the season in a high-level North Men shootout.

Whitt finished with 27 points, seven rebounds and five steals on 57.9% shooting while repeatedly attacking Logan in transition and through half-court paint touches.

Preston Le Gassick added 24 points and six assists, while Brodie McGregor contributed 20 points and nine rebounds as Gold Coast improved to 5-1.

Boston Mazlin and Jensen Bradtke both finished with 15 points and nine rebounds as the Rollers controlled the glass 48-44 and generated consistent second-chance opportunities.

Gold Coast repeatedly collapsed Logan’s defence through deep paint penetration and interior ball movement, finishing with 34 made two-point field goals.

The Rollers shot 52.3% inside the arc and forced Logan into difficult defensive rotations throughout the second half after trailing by six points at halftime.

Logan still produced strong offensive numbers, shooting 46.7% from the field and finishing with 27 assists.

Callum Dalton led Logan with 24 points and seven rebounds, while Shaun Bruce added 19 points and nine assists.

Zac Triplett contributed 18 points and nine assists, but Logan committed 15 turnovers and struggled containing Gold Coast’s frontcourt physicality late.

The Rollers outscored Logan 55-41 across the second half to fully seize momentum in the title race.

Ethan Betts exploded for 27 points as Townsville Heat survived a late Northside surge in one of the tightest finishes of North Men Round 5.

Betts knocked down five threes while adding seven rebounds and six assists as Townsville generated efficient offence throughout the second and third quarters.

Max Norton added 21 points on 58.3% shooting, while Steven Richardson Jr finished with 16 points and six assists.

Declan Condon controlled the glass with 12 points and 13 rebounds as Townsville repeatedly punished Northside through offensive rebounding and interior finishes.

The Heat shot 58.5% on two-point attempts and generated 14 offensive rebounds while maintaining scoreboard pressure across the second half.

Townsville’s ball movement consistently forced Northside into long defensive rotations, particularly during a 31-point second quarter that shifted momentum.

Northside still produced an efficient offensive performance behind Quintin Dove and Tyler Williams.

Dove finished with 25 points and five assists, while Williams added 22 points and five made threes.

Isaiah Jorgenson contributed 12 points and five assists, while Jeremiah Almencion knocked down three triples in an 11-point bench performance.

But Northside struggled containing Townsville’s interior efficiency and second-chance scoring during key late-game possessions.
