Stu Lash has stepped down as Brisbane Bullets head coach after 18 games of the NBL26 season.

Now former Bullets head coach Stu Lash's coach career last just 18 NBL26 games, today revealing he has stepped down.

“After a lot of thought and discussions I’ve decided to step down as head coach of the Brisbane Bullets,” Lash said.

“We went into this season with excitement and expectations.

“I want nothing but success for the players, staff, fans and sponsors and will continue to support the club.”

Bullets assistant coach and former NBL star Darryl McDonald has been appointed interim as the club in is advanced negotiations a with a new head coach.

“We are actively engaged in advanced discussions regarding our next head coach,” Bullets boss Mal Watts said.

The Bullets are 5-13 after an injury-riddled season and struggling to find any rhythm. They go into John Cain Arena on Saturday to play South East Melbourne Phoenix.

“Our focus is solely on Saturday’s game and moving forward collectively,” McDonald said.

Foxsports.com.au reported a club member "asked Lash at the Bullets mid-season, members-only forum" on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, which is a question and answer session between the club and its most devote fans.

The Bullets are ninth at 5-11 with Lash in his first year as a head coach ... at any level.

Lash was asked two pointed questions: Was he the right man for the job and would consider stepping aside?

“I understand the question, and as we said earlier, we as an organisation are evaluating everything right now,” Lash said.

“I have a deep care and love for this club, and I’m willing to do whatever needs to be done to put this club in a position to be successful.

“Those are conversations that are actively happening right now.

“I can’t get into all the granular details, but I understand the question and why it’s being asked.”

It was the first indication that Lash's coaching role is being evaluated within the organisation.
