Sydney made a statement with an 87-78 win against Sutherland at Sutherland Basketball Stadium after the stunning signing of NBL25 Grand Final hero William "Davo" Hickey, who returned to his junior club on Thursday, May 16, 2025.

Biwali Bayles delivered a spectacular 35-point performance on 14-from-30 shooting, accompanied by four steals. Obiri Kyei recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while William Hickey added another double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

For Sutherland, Kouat Noi poured in 34 points on 42.3% shooting, with Lochlan Hutchison adding 16 points and six assists. Sydney dominated the glass with a 54-46 rebounding advantage, including 20 offensive rebounds that led to 13 second-chance points. The game featured 11 lead changes, but Sydney's fast break scoring (17-5) proved to be a significant factor.

Manly Warringah vs Maitland

Manly Warringah secured a commanding 104-91 victory against Maitland at Northern Beaches Indoor Sports Centre. Isaiah Lee delivered a stellar performance with 34 points, including 8-from-16 from beyond the arc, while Preston Purifoy added 22 points and nine rebounds. For Maitland, Billy Parsons recorded a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds in a losing effort.

The Sea Eagles dominated much of the contest, building a 23-point lead at one stage. Mason Bragg orchestrated the offence with nine assists, while Jamie Munro contributed 15 points and nine rebounds off the bench. Despite a solid effort from Mandrell Worthy (17 points) and Daniel Millburn (14 points), Maitland struggled to contain Manly's efficient offence, which shot an impressive 48.4% from three-point range.

Penrith vs Inner West

Penrith Panthers defeated Inner West Boars 86-71 at Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre behind Jonah Pares' dominant double-double of 21 points and 19 rebounds. Zeke Evans also recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Benjamin Kearins added 14 points and five assists for the Panthers.

Inner West struggled offensively, shooting just 16.1% from three-point range. Ramon Cao and Maxwell Clark led the Boars with 17 points each, while Dalen Ridgnal contributed a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Penrith controlled the paint, outrebounding Inner West 58-35 and scoring 52 points in the painted area compared to 44 for the visitors.

BA CoE vs Norths Bears

Basketball Australia's Centre of Excellence outclassed Norths Bears 85-62 at North Sydney Indoor Sports Centre. Che Brogan led the way with an outstanding 26 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and five steals. Jacob Furphy added 12 points and six assists, while Guer Bar contributed 11 points off the bench.

The CoE displayed superior efficiency on both ends, shooting 43.3% from the field while holding Norths to just 33.9%. Austin Patterson scored 19 points to lead the Bears, but struggled with turnovers. The CoE's fastbreak dominance was evident, outscoring Norths 16-2 in transition points while forcing 17 turnovers that included eight steals.

Bankstown vs Hills

Bankstown Bruins handled Hills Hornets 94-74 at Bankstown Basketball Stadium behind a balanced offensive attack. Andre Wolford led the scoring with 18 points, while Jaylin Galloway added 15 points and Hayden Blankley and Jason Cadee each contributed 14 points. Dominique Keyes recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Bruins established control early, building a 25-point advantage at one stage. For Hills, Zachery Hudson posted a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Jacob Foy and Pafe Momoisea each added 12 points. Bankstown's bench outscored Hills' reserves 21-26, and the Bruins shot an efficient 87.1% from the free throw line, making 27-of-31 attempts.

Hornsby KuRingGai vs Newcastle

Hornsby KuRingGai narrowly defeated Newcastle Hunters 80-77 at The Brickpit in a back-and-forth contest. Mohamed Kone delivered a remarkable triple-double with 23 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists. Daniel Titus added 14 points and nine rebounds, while Akil Douglas contributed 12 points off the bench.

Newcastle was led by Ryan Beisty's double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds, while Myles Cherry added 21 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Despite outrebounding Hornsby 50-48, the Hunters couldn't overcome their 19.4% shooting from three-point range. The game featured nine lead changes, with Hornsby leading for just over 30 minutes of the contest.

Illawarra vs Canberra

Illawarra Hawks edged out Canberra Gunners 85-78 at The Snakepit Stadium. Todd Blanchfield registered a dominant double-double with 25 points and 17 rebounds. Lachlan Dent contributed 18 points and six assists, while Bradley Ballinger added an efficient 16 points on 63.6% shooting.

Canberra was led by Glenn Morison's double-double of 20 points and 15 rebounds, with William Mayfield adding 19 points. The teams were evenly matched in several statistical categories, but Illawarra's 14 lead changes and 92.3% free throw shooting proved decisive. Despite Canberra's slight advantage in three-point percentage (32.3% to 28.2%), the Hawks maintained control for the final stretch.

Albury Wodonga vs Central Coast

Albury Wodonga Bandits defeated Central Coast Crusaders 100-86 at Lauren Jackson Sports Centre. Matthew Gray recorded an outstanding double-double with 34 points and 14 rebounds, shooting an efficient 63.2% from the field including 6-from-10 from three-point range. Ahren Freeman added 28 points on 61.1% shooting, while Immanuel Allen contributed 17 points.

Despite a strong rebounding effort from Central Coast (59-44), the Crusaders couldn't overcome Albury Wodonga's shooting efficiency. The Bandits shot 46.2% from the field and dominated in transition with 20 fastbreak points. Klairus Amir led Central Coast with 17 points, while Lino Manhom posted a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds in the losing effort.
