Kings' surgin' Spurgin dethrones Goodrick as best buy

Sydney Kings role player Jason Spurgin ($69,000) has produced the best SuperCoach NBL Cheapie return of this NBL27 Blitz pre-season tournament and almost nobody owns him.

Forty-nine projected SuperCoach NBL Classic points from two games is 71.0 for every $100,000 of his price, ahead of every other player under $100,000 in the game.

Spurgin, 24, translated a red-hot 2026 NBL1 East campaign – 18 points and 9.7 rebounds – for the Sutherland into 12 points and seven rebounds against South East Melbourne on Day 1, then six points, six rebounds and a block in 13 minutes against New Zealand on Day 3. He is owned by 5.2 per cent of teams.

He missed the entire NBL26 Kings' championship season through injury.

Hunter Goodrick ($69,000) is owned by 44.5 per cent, still the only floor-priced player in more than one team in three, and the next most-owned cheapie sits on 27.3. He is q9th on this list. Two games have returned him 13 projected points, five of them on Day 4, and eighteen Cheapies have produced more per dollar.

The Blitz has moved this market in both directions. Ben Gold ($69,000) has gone from 6.1 per cent ownership to 14.7 after his 11-point, 11-rebound double-double against Brisbane, and Shaun Bruce ($76,500) from 7.7 to 14.0 since topping our Day 1 value table, though Bruce then managed two projected points on Day 4 with import Jaylon Brown ($277,000) back in front of him.

‍Sunday Dech ($69,000) has gone the other way, 36.9 per cent down to 27.3, and the hamstring that explained it is now settled: he played 11 minutes on Day 4 for six points. Johny Narkle ($69,000 has still not been seen, a DNP in Illawarra's only game so far, and Matt Kenyon ($69,000) finished the whole tournament without a minute.

How to read this page. Ranked on total projected SuperCoach points per $100,000 of price across the whole Blitz, not per night, because that is the question a coach answers before the first lockout on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

How this table is built, and where the numbers come from

Every player in the SuperCoach NBL game priced under $100,000 who has taken the floor is here, 38 of them, ranked on the whole tournament rather than the most recent night. A one-game player is marked by his minutes, not excluded, and four clubs still have Day 5 to play.
Days 1 to 3 come from the official box scores. Day 4 does not exist as one. The NBL published no player statistics for either Day 4 game, so those two stat lines are rebuilt from the official play-by-play, on a method checked against Day 3 games where the official numbers do exist. Each club’s players add up to that club’s final score, all four exactly.
Scoring. A player’s points, plus one per rebound, two per assist, three per steal and three per block, minus two per turnover, and five more for a double-double. Personal fouls score nothing. A score can be negative, and one here is.
Not official SuperCoach scores. SuperCoach NBL does not score the pre-season, so no Blitz performance changes a price or a point. Prices and ownership are a fixed snapshot, taken at 8:30am AEST on Sunday, September 6, 2026, because the rate in the left-hand column is worked out from the price beside it.

These six have no per-36 and no value score, because not one of them played enough last season to work a rate from. They are ranked P1 to P6, an order of their own rather than a continuation of the other table.

Why there is no rate here, and how the P order was set

An empty cell sitting beside a per-36 of 32.2 reads as a low score rather than as an absence, so those columns are simply not repeated here. Two different measurements must never share a column.
They are not rookies. Each is an experienced senior player who spent last season somewhere other than the NBL, or is arriving from college, and each has walked into a top-two slot on his club’s depth chart. The P order reflects that path, which is why it can never be read as running on from the 1 to 13 in the other table.
